Not as long as there's a tight seal at the cap. I used to have problems with twist off bottles. The caps don't shape themselves to the threads well.

hi craig, I saw the post about going flat with twist tops, have you had any problems with beer going flat?

Craig, I guess I'm slightly more lazy than you. I opted for 2L bottles. I was told that you can use any bottle, PROVIDED that the original drink was carbonated... otherwise the bottle may explode under pressure (non-carbonated drinks don't have the same PSI requirements). For a 23L batch, you can get away with using 11-12 bottles :) What do you think of this idea? Is there any reason why you think this might not be a good idea?

your way is faster but i prefer my all glass method - its more work to use a primary and a secondary but you can let the beer sit for three weeks or so in the secondary and take care of most of the maturing - plus i find it best to let my beer sit in the bottles a minimum of three weeks to agerelax and have a homebrew!!!

Craig,I vote this my favorite documentry video on the net. I planted hops in my garden 5 years back, each year hated seeing them go to waiste, This year I put them for free on craiglist. Wow what a responce. A fellow is coming to get them in an hour or so, I thought I would check out U tube to see what it would take to brew (renewed interest), Thanks to your perfect videos, I will now try to brew a batch. Next years harvest, I will incorporate fresh hops Thanks much, Chicago, IL

Caps don't seal well on twist-off bottles. I've had many flat beers that way. You don't have to move the beer, just don't draw the beer from the very bottom where the sediment is. Use a racking cane, or somehow siphon from just above the sediment level and fill your bottles. A siphoning cane touches the bottom, but draws from about .5 inches above. Once you have it securely in place, do not move it or it will stir up the sediment. You can get a clip to clip it onto the side of your bucket.

Hello Craig, just got another question, can i use bud's beer bottles and still use regular caps? and do i really have to move the beer on a diferent bucket to separete the yest from the fermented beer... by the way thanks for those videos i'm in the middle of my 1st batch of beer.... thanks & Regards. the end to that video is class! Got a brew on from the syrup but we keep it in a big barrel and tap it off instead of bottling, and we keep it like that for at least 3 weeks before drinking, in fact now we leave it for at least 2months it tastes even better. Starting a batch from ingredients instead of a syrup tomorrow. Old family recipe, can't wait!
