I got one at my local grocery store (wegmans) for $20, it has a stainless steal temp probe and a heat resistant cable. It was working fine up to close to 200degF, it was meant to be used with the probe inside your oven to measure temps in meat.

Okay, I've burned thru three of those digital thermometers, they seem to not like reading high temps for extended periods, hows your luck been?PS, hop bags are great for reducing straining, they are not just for dry hopping.Cheers!!

No. Hop bags are used to "dry hop" beer to give it additional hop flavor and aroma. This American Amber Ale does not call for additional hops and adding them would create a different style of ale.... more like an IPA.
