I'm not convinced. In the 70's Clapton was in a permanent state of drunkenness. This may have led to his comments; he was out of his head in a similar way Mel Gibson was when he accused the jews of starting all wars. I'll agree that Clapton was influenced by Hendrix, but he wasn't "copying." Their music is noticebly different. As for Hendrix being the superior guitarist, that's a matter of opinion. I happen to prefer Clapton :). No hard feelings!

And on copying hendrix, he wanted to copy hendrix because hendrix was a better guitarist. Clapton knew it and all of england knew it. When Jimi played on stage with cream on the 7th day being in England, Clapton had to leave the gig and cried on the floor on a taxi. Clapton thought his career was over. Regardless of whethor or not clapton helped him get discovered he didn't need it. He was talked about everyone in England after only a few days. Despite you hear/read every guitarist was afraid

Eric clapton looks like the biggest prick in the video. He's so bad at copying hendrix. I used to have such respect for him until I learned he was racist
